Montelucci Wedding at the Country Resort

Does it get better than a Montelucci wedding in Tuscany?

Being able to shoot a few weddings in Italy in my 2019 season, was an absolute treat. Montelucci Country Resort is in the Arezzo region. It is in a triangle between Arezzo, Siena and Florence. I mean, what a location, right! Obviously destination weddings have taken a hit with Covid but I can’t wait to start shooting them again soon. To be able to have that time with your absolute best people in the world and treat them to an amazing pocket of culture and beauty, they’re just memories that will last you all forever.

Jemma & Chris spoke to me about a year before hand and it was so exciting talking about their plans. I have a huge amount of admiration for a couple who plan a wedding abroad. It’s no walk in the park, especially when you’re dealing with a different work ethic – ie, a slightly more Italian style, shall we say. But and a big but! the benefits far out weigh the effort. The wedding was spread over 4 days, with everybody staying at the Montelucci Country Resort for the whole time but without any massive structure, they could just make the most of their time their and either explore or catch up. Life is so hectic and busy, so to pull this off, it really is a wonderful opportunity to have that time with your favourite people.

They’d both been to Italy but not to Tuscany before they went on their recce & just fell in the venue and area. It’s my first time shooting a Montelucci wedding and I appreciate the trust shown in my style to just leave me to capture their day. It’s definitely a misconception that you need a photographer who ‘knows a venue’ to be able to photograph it and actually, sometimes it’s beneficial to have someone with fresh eyes. As long as you’re hiring a professional, they will absolutely do an amazing job for you, so its always better to book someone with a vision and personality you bond with, rather than always just sticking to the list.

If you’re getting married in Italy, you’re going to want to capture some gorgeous golden light. This was a big thing for them to get from their day but interestingly, you need to leave the venue and head a little up the road to get it. Tuscany is a gorgeous area of rolling hills and although when they visited in March, the sun set before them in the gardens, actually, it was a different story in the June, so its always worth making plans. Also, interestingly, being closer to the equator, the suns sets a lot quicker over here than in the UK, so you really have to plan this and react, you can’t just wing it! I always arrive a day before so was able to find a lovely road just over the hill, so we took 20 minutes out and jumped in the car.

The styling was kept nice and simple, just using greenery and freshly chopped olive twigs in the morning. When you’ve got that view, setting, bridal party and some flaming Aperol Spritz’, you really dont need anything else. Thank you for stopping by and reading the blog. If you’re planning a relaxed Montelucci wedding I would love to hear your plans! Naomi x
