Wow! We have no words

My love of Italy is longer than spaghetti

I’m not sure I’ve met a photographer who doesn’t love shooting in Italy — but my connection runs deeper than beautiful light and very good pasta.

In 1980 there was the terrible 6.9 Irpinia Earthquake. It displaced hundreds of thousands of people and destroyed large areas.

I was a baby back then and my Dad, having close ties in the South, felt compelled to help. He contacted a relief & rescue team, hooked up a caravan with supplies and left to do what he could.

He returned on Christmas Eve — and life was never quite the same for him after that.

Year after year, we’d return…

Year after year, we went back to the same small village. As an engineer, he continued to support the community in practical ways, it made such a difference in an area where progress was slow and political barriers were common. But what we always felt was the warmth, resilience, and generosity of the people. We were welcomed like family.

Those trips shaped me more than I realised at the time. Italy isn’t just somewhere I love to visit — it feels woven into who I am. That’s why I choose to photograph weddings there. It’s personal. It’s meaningful. And it will always feel like a privilege, not just a destination.
