A Matara Wedding in September Sunshine
I probably only get to a Matara wedding a couple of times a year but it is one of my favourite venues in The Cotswolds. The venue itself, is very laid back, with loads of space and privacy to just feel like you’ve escaped for a few days with your closest people. There’s tonnes of garden (28 acres of the stuff) and loads of trees and nooks and crannies to really forget about the outside world. And a massive bonus is they’re really good at a canapé! Anne & Will were not only lucky enough to not have had things moved around with Covid but they managed to bag a prime weekend date here and also have the most gorgeous September sun and sunset bless their day. It was so warm that they could really make the most of what Matara had to offer. And the sun really picked up the necklace that Anne wore, that her brother had given her for her 18th.
Designed by Watters, Anne’s dress was insane! It had a slight blush colour and with her beautiful delicate pale skin tone, it was like it was designed with her in mind. Really, she was just perfect and also one of those most beautiful people who would never believe that, which made her a million times more beautiful! Like most of my couples, they dont want these two just wanted their loved ones to be comfortable, so the girls, just had a swatch of colours and could choose their own dresses. Especially in a venue like Matara, this really works and sits with the relaxed nature of the place to not have anything too rigid or formal.
It was my first time working with their florist Myrtle Mee, from Bristol. The bouquets were beautiful un structured using lovely September browns, oranges and desaturated euculptus but it was the dried flower button holes that stole the show. I love a good button hole but they can sometimes look a bit rumpled and slipshod after a few big cuddles which can take a bit of resuscitation but these guys stayed pert and so colourful all day and obviously then, a great keep sake too. The day was full of home made touches with the Dahlias grown on Wills Dads farm. If you’re a Dahlias grower, check out the corker on the top table!
If you’re lucky enough to get a golden hour at a Matara wedding, head towards the front lawn and you can really make the most of the dipping sun but just be aware, it’ll hide past the trees before its totally done, so keep checking it.
Sadly, very sadly, Wills mum had passed and was a big missing physical presence but like all these days that are carried out with love, she was behind a lot of glossy eyes and in a lot of hearts. It takes courage to stand up and speak about those that you love that are no longer here, especially with it so unclear and raw in your soul but I would always encourage it happen. Theres no greater time to celebrate them, include them and make them part of your day and Wills, his Dad & brother did this so beautifully.
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit the blog.
