Elegant, Black Tie, May Wedding at The Painswick

Close family, friends, rolling hills and gorgeous food at a stylish, boutique hotel, The Painswick. It’s near on perfection, just see! Its not all barns in The Cotswolds, theres so many smaller humble finds if you look about and The Painswick, I mean I’ve been doing this for years, and it’s new to me and straight on my favourite list.

From the couple

“Your wonderful photos, I know it probably doesn’t have the same impact months later, but they really brought us so much joy and continue to do so.

You’re so talented, Naomi, that we even love all the couple shots (!!) Thanks so much for pushing us out of our comfort zone and giving us those lasting memories. The photos of the kids are just everything 💕” Grace & Jonny.

The beginning

Rewind back to 2018, which was when I first heard from Grace & Jonny. Originally set to marry at St Tewdrics out in Wales in November. Grace got in contact as they wanted someone to naturally capture the fun and colour of the day. Slightly worried about bagging a potentially grey winters day, they wanted someone who could see past that and still give them a vibrant set. Absolutely my bag! Not long afterwards Jonny emailed to say they had had to postpone their wedding as they had fallen pregnant with twins! crazy thing about that was, I was just due my scan to confirm that I was also pregnant with twins…which were bizarrely due on their wedding date! Fast forward 4years and a few plan changes and a new date was set. A much smaller, May wedding at the luxury boutique hotel, The Painswick.

The Venue

If you’re looking for a smaller luxury wedding venue, that does good food and hospitality in The Cotswolds, come to The Painswick. The decor is stylish and minimalist yet proper lush. The main room is for your ceremony, breakfast and dancing. Unlike most venues where that can impede the flow of your day, there are so many places to be, that it just feels a natural movement.

For our couple portraits, we were spoilt. We used several parts of the hotel but given such a beautiful low spring sun, we went for a quick walk to the local church (scouted by the groom himself! all credit due.) where within 4 minutes, we’d taken the most beautiful, calm and romantic couple shots. Sometimes it can be difficult to truly focus on each other when Nan is possibly going to appear from around the corner, so for any instances like this, always make sure you grab some secluded time with no distractions. You’ll never regret the end result.

I’m not sure if they offer anything except exclusive use for a wedding but regardless it’s 100% worth it. With younger ones at the wedding, they could just run off steam outside whilst the rest of the wedding were treated to negronis and blackberry sours in the warm spring sunshine. Another nod to

Get In Touch

I utterly loved shooting here and its placed highly and firmly on favourite venues. The wisteria was in full bloom, which smelled amazing! and it almost felt like a Tuscan villa (for which is you’re after a wedding covering in Italy, I’m there too!), with the bleached stone, flagged floors and high ceilings.

I’d 100% recommend a visit here, even if not for a wedding but if you’re in the area. It’s also not far from Rocco gardens and the village itself is beautiful to visit. If you’re planning a wedding at The Painswick and you’re after some relaxed, gorgeous, story telling images, I would love to hear from you. Just fill in the contact page and I look forward to finding out more about your day.
